The Raschig ring is the first artificial packing used in the industry. It is usually made of ceramic or metal sheet, and its height is equal to the diameter. The commonly used size is 25mm~75mm (also as small as 6mm and as large as 150mm). The wall thickness of the ceramic is 2.5mm~9.5mm, and the metal ring is 0.8mm~1.6mm. In the case of permission strength, the wall should be as thin as possible ring. The Raschig ring is the earliest ring packing with fixed geometry in the history of tower packing. The characteristics of the Raschig ring are that the outer diameter and height of the packing ring are equal, the structure is simple, and the price is low.

The ceramic Raschig ring packing has a simple shape and its height is equal to the diameter. The large-size Raschig ring (100MM or more) generally filled with the rules of the whole building method, and the Raschig ring below 75MM is generally filled by random stacking.
